Our president making an annoucement on TV

This video is recorded a week ago. It's Marija's guesting in "Dnevna soba" with Gjorgji Kalajdjiev. She talks about our club, our beginnings, our recent and incoming projects, our mission and goals, etc. It was very brave of her to make a step like this, and to introduce us in front of a thousands viewers. :)

Making progress with the project

5th Meeting

We got a new member! It’s Marija Joveska. We also have got 2 more volounteers who will help us with the project. We were also pleased to meet Christine Meissner, volounteer from Peace Corps, and also president of Club GLOW Radovis.
We’re making some progress with the boxes. Our plan is 3 happy boxes, and 3 sad. Here’s some pics:

This is one of our happy boxes.

The most important event this week is when Marija spoke to the mayor. He was very supportive about our project and said he would cover us by sending announcements in the schools and supporting us on TV.
She also had spoken with her principle, and she was very optimistic and supportive too.
So, now we have 2 more weeks to finish the boxes, to make up the flayers, to talk to the principles in the other schools, and the principle of the kindergardens, and to make up our schedule for December.
It’s gonna be dedicated month to the collecting toys, and giving them to the children. From 5th to 9th December, we’re going to collect the toys from the high and elementary schools, and from 12th to 17th, we want to go out, in the center of our city, and collect the toys from the people, but we are not sure how that’s going to work because we haven’t made our schedule yet and the weather conditions are a little bit extreme.

Preparations

We've already started preparing for our project. Here's some photos from us decorating the boxes:

Make me smile!

The idea is to collect toys from the people in Strumica and then donate them to the kids in the kindergartens who don’t have what to play with.

1. What will we do?
We will make 4 boxes, 2 happy boxes and 2 sad boxes. The happy boxes will be full with toys and will be decorated with happy kids, and the sad boxes will be decorated with sad kids, and people are supposed to put the toys there. The boxes will be placed into the high schools, 2 schools per 2 weeks. That’s 4 boxes.
When we collect the toys from the schools, we will go outside, on open, and collect the toys from there. But, this is a little extreme because the weather is very cold in December.
Then, finally when we will collect all the toys we could, we will sort them and donate them to the kindergartens. Our goal is 500 toys.

2. Why are we doing it?
The children in the kindergartens don’t have enough toys to play with. We’re going to surprise them for New Year’s holidays.

3.Who is involved and who helps?
We’re 5 girls, members of club GLOW Strumica, and for now, 2 volunteers who will help us only for the project. We also have Eli who is our consultant, supporter and donator.
We hope that the kids from our high schools will help us..

4.Where?
The project will start in our high schools, and then we could go out, on open. The location could also include elementary schools, universities, toy stores, downtown, etc..

5.When?
In November we will prepare, we will ask for permissions from the mayor, the principles of the high schools and the kindergartens. We will also prepare the 4 boxes, and spread the idea to the people. Marija already went live on TV on our local TV Vis in the show with Kalajdjiev.
In December we will start with the collecting from the high schools and from downtown, and then we will sort the toys and give them to the kindergarteners.

Mission

We believe that we could make changes in this community, in our surrounding, in Strumica. We want to keep it simple, and we are enthusiastic, optimistic and creative! We aim to build friendships, to promote our self-confidence, and be more communicative. We want to develop our leadership skills through games, projects and educational activities in woman’s health, volounteerism, and many more.

Our moto is: Fall seven times, stand up eight!

The beginnings

This club was established in 22th October 2011. Our place for the meetings is a small room in the high school “Jane Sandanski”, which the principle was kindly enough to trust it to us. The iniciator for these meetings is Marija Chakalova, she is our president also. We’re 6 girls for now, but as we do the projects we hope that this number will raise. We also have 2 volounteers helping us, Eli and Dijana, especially Eli, she is our consultant, supporter and donator. We also met Aimee Pawlcyn, she made donations which will be very useful for our club and our projects.
